We’re Jumping Back Into Painting Season

, by

Spring is on its way, bringing new home projects. We’re here to help you make sure that your projects are done properly, from start to finish.

When it comes to painting, for the best results every time, the proper primer must be used.

Primer is essential in beginning many painting projects, so we want to make sure you’re choosing the right one, and using it effectively.

At Town Line, we carry primers for all types of projects, but we have a great all-purpose, go-to primer: Benjamin Moore’s STIX Primer.

Product Facts:

STIX is the highest quality, waterborne, acrylic urethane primer/sealer with unparalleled adhesion to the most challenging surfaces, including PVC, vinyl, plastic, glass, tile, glazed block, glossy paints, pre-coated siding, fiberglass, and galvanized metals.

It’s ideal for use on plaster, drywall, wood, and non-ferrous metals, where a low ambient or surface temperature would present a problem for conventional primers.

This product offers an extremely hard film when cured. Use it on interior and exterior surfaces and topcoat with almost any type of coating including alkyd, acrylic latex, urethane, epoxy (also two-components), and lacquer finishes.

Primer Tips:

The goal of painting is to be efficient and effective, so we want your experience priming to be the same.

  • Raw Surfaces are the only ones you need to prime. If it’s already painted, there’s a surface for paint to adhere to.
  • Cracks and Crevices can be filled in with a quick coat of primer, ensuring a nicer look to the finished wall.
  • Tint is Important to having primer work for you. The STIX primer is available in a range of colors, to offer stronger color pay off.

Looking For a Quick Drying Paint – PPG Break-Through!

, by

A lot of paint cans say that they’re quick drying, but how long is quick? Usually one to two hours is considered a relatively fast drying time.

But what if you used paint that dried to the touch in 15-20 minutes?

PPG Paints has released a new paint called Break-Through! that was created to actually dry that fast.

Break-Through! is an ultra-durable water-borne acrylic specially formulated to bond to some of the most difficult surfaces.

The dried product has a hardness similar to or better than standard alkyd paints, but it also is flexible enough to endure extreme bends and deformations without cracking or peeling – both on interior and exterior applications.

Where could Break-Through! work for you?

Its versatility makes it a fit for nearly any surface – ceramic, plastic, fiberglass, doors, railings, concrete floors, cabinets, windows, and trim.

This is one instance where a product’s name isn’t simply hyperbole. Break-Through! is truly one of the most innovative paints we’ve seen in a while.

If you’d like to learn more, visit us and we can discuss how Break-Through! could help you with your projects.
